Heritage Foods Ltd has strengthened its presence in the frozen dessert market with the launch of a new ice cream manufacturing facility in Shamirpet, near Hyderabad, Telangana. The plant has an annual production capacity of 24 million litres and represents a strategic investment aimed at scaling the company’s ice cream operations over the next several years. Currently generating around Rs. 100 crore in annual revenue from its ice cream business, the company expects the new facility to significantly boost production capacity and support long-term growth.

India’s integrated sugar industry is projected to witness moderate revenue expansion in FY26, supported by improved sugarcane availability and relatively stable sugar prices. Industry estimates suggest revenue growth in the range of 5–8 percent during the fiscal year. However, profitability is expected to remain largely steady as higher sugarcane procurement costs and stagnant ethanol prices limit margin expansion. The Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) for sugarcane has been raised to Rs. 355 per quintal for the upcoming season, adding cost pressures for mill operators.

India’s coal production from captive and commercial mines has surpassed the 200 million tonne milestone in the current financial year, reflecting steady growth in domestic energy output. Data released by the government indicates that captive and commercial coal blocks accounted for the vast majority of this production, contributing more than 194 million tonnes, while other mines added a smaller share. Coal dispatch also recorded notable growth, rising by over 7 percent year-on-year.

Daikin India is preparing to significantly expand its manufacturing capacity as demand for air conditioning systems continues to grow across the country. The company plans to increase its annual production of room air conditioners from the current 30 lakh units to 40 lakh units by 2030. To support this expansion, the firm intends to establish a new manufacturing facility in Sri City SEZ in Andhra Pradesh.

Ola Electric has introduced a nationwide campaign titled #EndICEAge, aimed at accelerating India’s transition from petrol-powered two-wheelers to electric mobility. The initiative highlights the increasing costs and inconvenience associated with petrol dependency while encouraging riders to adopt electric vehicles as a more sustainable and economical alternative. German furniture fittings manufacturer Hettich has strengthened its manufacturing presence in India by inaugurating a new production facility in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The automated plant marks the company’s first dedicated unit in the country for producing undermount drawer runner systems, a key component used in modern furniture. The project forms part of Hettich’s broader investment strategy of approximately Rs 2,000 crore in India.

Gaurs Group, a prominent real estate developer based in the Delhi-NCR region, has reported a strong performance in property sales during the first nine months of the 2025–26 fiscal year. The company recorded sales bookings of Rs 5,347 crore, representing a 12 percent increase compared with Rs 4,786 crore in the same period of the previous year. The growth was largely driven by sustained demand for residential housing, which accounted for nearly 95 percent of total bookings.

Zydus Lifesciences has achieved a significant regulatory milestone after securing approval in China for its innovative drug Desidustat, developed to treat renal anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The authorization from China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) allows the oral medication to be introduced in one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical markets. The drug will be commercialized through an exclusive licensing partnership with CMS International Development and Management Ltd, a subsidiary of China Medical System Holdings Ltd.

HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) has announced a major investment of Rs 2,600 crore in the specialty and fine chemicals sector in Punjab, signaling a strategic diversification beyond traditional refining operations. The announcement was made by industrialist Lakshmi Niwas Mittal during the Progressive Punjab Investors Summit 2026. In addition to the chemical sector expansion, the company plans to enter the fuel retail market by establishing 500 fuel stations across India. 

India’s aviation sector faced a major operational disruption in December when hundreds of IndiGo flights were cancelled due to a shortage of pilots linked to new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) regulations. In response, the airline has provided compensation totaling approximately Rs 163.92 crore to affected passengers, largely through travel coupons. Government officials have confirmed that corrective measures are being implemented to prevent similar disruptions in the future.
